Louis served as a Private, 12th Airdrome Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He was assigned as the Asst. Crew Chief on B-25D #41-30211, that served with the 70th Bomber Squadron, 42nd Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force.

He resided in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on May 27, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in Packing, filling, labeling, marking, and bottling and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25D #41-30211 took of, with a crew of 4, from Stirling Island, Solomon Islands on a test flight to test out the trim on the B-25. After takeoff they were not seen nor heard from again and are believed to have crashed into the sea, for an unknown reason, near Stirling Island.

It was also noted that 6 other B-25s did an immediate search for B-25D #41-30211 without results. The other B-25s also noted cumulus clouds and rain in the area at that time.

Louis died in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash during the war.
