3rd Earl of Stafford

Second but eldest surviving son of Sir Hugh de Stafford, Earl of Stafford, Lord Audley and Philippe de Beauchamp. Grandson of Sir Ralph de Stafford and Margaret de Audley, Sir Thomas de Beauchamp and Katherine de Mortimer.

He became the next Earl of Stafford at age eighteen when his elder brother, Ralph, was killed by King Richard II's half-brother, Sir John Holland during a feud concerning the death of one of Richard's retainers by one of Ralph's archers.

First of three husbands of husband of Anne Plantagenet, Anne of Woodstock, daughter of Sir Thomas of Woodstock and Lady Eleanor de Bohun. They had no issue, and the marriage as reportedly never consummated.

Anne's second husband would be his brother, Edmund de Stafford.
