Mr. Wallander was born Aug. 10, 1895 in the Town of Cato, son of the late Frank and Eva Straka Wallander. He attended St. Mary School, Clarks Mills and was a veteran of World War I. He married Theresa Riederer June 8, 1920 at Clarks Mills and farmed in the Town of Cato until his retirement in 1975. His wife preceded him in death in 1980. He was a member of St. Mary Holy Name Society and Valders American Legion Post.
Survivors are six sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Pauline of County Trunk S, Manitowoc, Edward and Lucille of County Trunk JJ, Manitowoc, Robert and Elaine of Whitelaw, Tom and Janice of Chandler, Ariz., Bernard and Lois of Cato and Allan and Sue of Sepulveda, Calif.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Delores and Harold Schuh of Chandler, Ariz., Mrs. Marie Johanek and Mrs. Laura Braun of Manitowoc and Rita and Charles McKiel of LaPorte, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hickman of Manitowoc and Mrs. Mary Hickman of Cedarburg; 55 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Two sons, three grandsons, a great granddaughter and brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this thursday afternoon. Valders American Legion service will be at 7:30 o'clock and a parish prayer service will be at 8 o'clock by Father Conrad.
