A second son of Lars, Hervie (only Grandma and Grandpa called him by his given name - everyone else called him "Herb" ) learned butchering from his father who had had shops in Geneva and Clarks Grove, and had also worked in Albert Lea with first butcher son, Art. Herb retired after 50 years working in national Tea as manager in Albert Lea and Austin, where he moved to in 1935. In 1938 herb and Bill Whelan, grocery man at National Tea, opened "Herb & Bill's Store" on Oakland Ave., Austin, when National Tea closed its store. Their little neighborhood store was enlarged three times during that time. Following Bill's death, son Lowell became a partner and the market was called "Larson's Market ". They operated it until February 1960 when Herb retired and the business was ended. --- From the Austin Herald
