Obit- Mable L. Wilkie- 1888-1930 Rockford, Iowa Register Lars and Mary Larson are the parents of Mable L. Wilkie who was born to them in Albert Lea, MN., Oct. 20, 1888. She reached girlhood in the companionship of six sisters and four brothers. it was at the time of a casual visit of Frank Wilkie in the J.J. Jones home near Geneva that he met Miss Mabel Larsen. Then and there an acquaintance was formed t hat resulted in their marriage on the anniversary of her birthday in 1918. This was a double wedding, for her sister Helen was married then also at Clarks Grove. Mr & Mrs Wilkie came to Rockford to make their home. Unto their wedlock w ere given two daughters, Margaret and Mildred. In her youth Mrs Wilkie united with the Methodist Episcopal church in her home town. When she came to Rockford she transferred her affiliations to the Methodist church here Apr. 20, 1919 under the pastorate of the Rev. Harry C. Culver. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters. For a number of years she was a member of the local Civic League. She was much attached to her Circle C in the Ladies' Aid Society, and was i n attendance at a Christmas party given by her circle in the home of Mrs L.H. Zeran when she was taken seriously ill Thursday afternoon, Dec. 18. She was taken home, but her condition was so bad that she was taken to Mercy Hospital, Mason City. Almost from the start her condition was unfavorable, and her spirit departed Sunday afternoon, December 28, She is survived by her husband, their two daughters, her father and mother, six sisters and three brothers, one brother having preceded her in death; Hervie and Art, Albert Lea, Will of Washington, Mrs Kate Nelson and Mrs Laura Olson, Albert Lea, Mrs Agnes Arnold, Geneva, Miss Ann Larson, Waldorf, Mrs Helen Larson and Mrs Alice Andersen, Clark s Grove. The funeral was held from the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, and interment was in the Rockford cemetery. The Rev. Charles E. Luce officiated.
