Josephine Holliday, daughter of Loretta and James Holliday was born at Scandia August 17, 1883.
On October 29, 1906, she was united in marriage to D. M. Shrouf at Republic and two children were born to this union. The daughter died in infancy.
Mrs. Shrouf was a member of the Presbyterian church at Concordia, the Rebekah lodge and the Women's Relief Corps.
Besides her husband she is survived by a son. Don, who is in the U.S. consular service; two sisters, Mrs. Vernon Mitchell and Mrs. Lois Davies of Topeka and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in Concordia October 17 with the Rev. Paul McCleave in charge. Burial was in Lake cemetery, Republic.
