She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, serving in leadership positions and as a teacher in both Ward and Stake callings. She filled two temple missions, one in London, England with her husband and following his death, a second one in Johannesburg, South Africa serving as Assistant to the Matron. Subsequently she moved to Denver where she worked full time in the Denver Temple for five years as Supervisor of Records and Administration. Since 1992 she has lived in Holladay, Utah with her daughter Anne.
Merle made deep, life-long friends, and no matter how you felt when you visited her, she always left you feeling better.
Survived by sons Clyde (Carol) Federal Way, WA; Mark (Melody), Layton; Bruce (Sue Ann) Sandy; and daughters Anne Jackson (Clem), Holladay; and Lynne Ballif (Bill), Logan. Also survived by 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, and siblings Melvin Dalton (Clara), Moab; Ellen Davis, Cedar City. Preceded in death by husband Ray (1984), son Dalton (1973), her parents and brothers Bertram, Grant and George Dalton and sisters Naomi Pearson, Emma Jean Clark, Anne McLaughlin. Also two beloved daughters-in-law, Janice McClellan Bryner and Marilyn Avery Bryner.
Funeral to be held at the Holladay 10th Ward, 4601 South 2565 East, April 27th at Noon. Family and friends may visit from 10:30-11:45. Burial in the Salt Lake Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Holladay-Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary.
