llen Harriet Dalton Davis, 89, passed away on December 10, 2016 in Cedar City, UT. She was born in Moab, Utah on January 22, 1927 to Albertus Dalton and Emma Eliza McConkie.
Ellen graduated from Grand County High School and attended Brigham Young University for two years. She married Lawrence Davis on October 7, 1946. Together they had 10 children. Being born and raised in Moab, Ellen instilled in her children a love of Moab and the surrounding areas. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ellen loved her Heavenly Father. She served two missions for the church – one in the Oregon, Portland Mission, and one at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, working on genealogy. She loved doing genealogy and spent many hours looking up family members and researching their histories.
Ellen worked in the Library for many years. She had a great love of books and reading. She especially enjoyed working with the small children and sharing books with them.
Ellen is survived by her children John (Hanna) of Van Couver, WA, Kenneth (Becky) of Salt Lake City, UT, Kristine of Cedar City, UT, Jennie (Daryl) of Cedar City, UT, Carol (Jeff) of Cedar City, UT, James (Kristine) of Cedar City, UT, Ruth (Bob) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Dick (Kim) of Salt Lake City, UT, 31 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and brother Melvin Dalton of Moab, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence Davis, son David Dalton Davis, daughter Mary Ellen Beam, grandson Robby Davis, and great grandson Easton Jeffery Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Cedar Stake Center (155 East 400 South, Cedar City, Utah). A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
