Born in Cleveland County on Dec. 4, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Nelson G. and Docia May Wright Self, and step-mother Florence E. Self.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Lib Holloman Sunday School Class.
She was past president of UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy) Cleveland Guards Chapter 443 from 1990-1998, was an avid reader, and loved genealogical research and her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joe Turner Cabaniss Jr.; three brothers, J.B. Self Sr., Coleman F. Self and Buford Lee Self Sr.; two sisters, Louise Self Norman and her twin sister Kathleen "Kat" Wolfe; and a granddaughter Emily Merrell.
Mrs. Cabaniss is survived by one son, three daughters, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church
