Gertie Davis, 89, of the Oneida Nursing Center, died Monday morning, May 9, 2005, at the Scott County Hospital.

Born November 10, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Peter Harness andd Salley York Harness. She was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Salley York Harness; husband, Ralph William Davis; two infant sons: Elvis and Ollif Davis; five brothers: Jasper Harness, Jess Harness, John Harness, Arzo Harness and Clifford Harness; three sisters: Bessie Harness, Ernie Harness and her twin sister, Mertie Harness; and son-in-law, Gaither Gibson.

Survivors include two sons: Rev. Theadore (Ted) Davis and wife Janetta of the Straight Fork community, and Merrel Davis and wife Tammy of Winfield; three daughters: Reeda Pearl Chambers and husband, Oval, of the Anadell community; Marilyn Sue Harness and husband, Bill, of the Ditney Trail community; and Helen Jean Gibson of the Winona community; step-son, William Ralph Davis Jr. of Sylvester, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Burial in the Slick Rock Cemetery.
