For those with an 0bjection to the spelling: The 0riginal German spelling of the name was Kuehnemund and this was Anglicized to Kinneman or Kinnemund which is what is shown on her tombstone. Most civil records have it as Kinnemund so I Am Not Going to change it in deference to this 0l' German Couple - Catharine Caroline Steffan was born on September 5, 1812 in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. Her father Adam Steffan b1778 was 34 and her mother Anna Maria Steffan was 24.(Her parents were 2nd Cousin's as their Grandfathers were brothers) She came over to America on the ship Trimdon with her family in the summer of 1832. She had married Adam Kinnemund in 1830 in her hometown of Lampertheim in the Lutheran Church shown to the upper right. She had two sons with him in 1834 and 1836. Together they had 13 children through 1858. (0ne son Martin died at two years of age in the summer of 1840) She lived out her life in Adams Co., Pennsylvania. She passed away on June 28, 1878 in Abbottstown, Penns at the age of 65.
The elder ADAM STEFFAN b1778 Settled with his family and his Dau Catharine (b1812) in Adams Co in Aug 1832. I had been Looking for A SHIPS LIST Record for My G/Grandfather Adam Stephan B1813 for a long time, so I was Amazed when I Finally discovered it. It amazes me that He came over with 0ne of the earlist Stephan Families to Immigrate. I did not expect to find him this early in the records near where he ultimately settled. It turns out that Adams Co, Pa is only 75 miles from Blair Co, Pa where my ADAM STEPHAN b1813 settled with his family in Hollidaysburg, Penns. They All have a Common Ancestor in JOHAN PHILIP STEPHAN born 1681 in Hesse-Darmstadt, Common Ancestor to most of The STEFFAN/ STEPHAN Families that immigrated to America. My G/grandfather came over on the Ship - Trimdon with Catharine in the summer of 1832, so no doubt they grew up together in Lampertheim, Hessen, Germany. Her parents are buried nearby in this cemetery as listed below. Most of her children spelled the name as Kinneman but the parents retained the German spelling of Kinnemund which is what is shown on Adam Kinnemund's tombstone.
