James E. "Jim" Giebler, 85, died May 10, 2013 at home with family present in Hays, Kansas. He was born June 26, 1927 in Severin, Kansas to James F. and Virginia (Koerner) Giebler. He married Theresa Marie Dinkel on September 4, 1950 in Emmeram, Kansas.

As a young man, he worked in the oilfields. He served in the US Army from 1945-1947. He retired from Permian Corporation in 1991. He loved restoring and rebuilding foreign cars, as well as mechanic work on all cars. His gift of music included playing the piano, organ, guitar, violin, and accordion. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Church Choir, the Men's German Choir, and also a cantor. Music was always an important part of his daily life. His music and his work was his prayer.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa of Hays and their eight children: Sheila Neuburger and husband Tom, Lawrence, KS; Pamela Diehl and husband Stephen, Wichita, KS; Gregory Giebler and wife Laura, Estherville, IA; Steven Giebler and wife Debra, Great Bend, KS; Rebecca Deatherage and husband David, Russell, KS; Deborah Fall and husband Scott, Hays, KS; Carma Chrisler and husband Chris, Hays, KS; James A. Giebler and wife Stacy, Milford, OH; Five sisters: Sylvia Stecklein, Pratt, KS; Ventura Weigel, Oklahoma City, OK; Ruth Carter, Jacksonville, FL; Alice Schneider, Victoria, KS; Mae Desch-Boos, Lafayette, CO; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joe Giebler; three sisters: Loretta Stecklein, Lorraine Dreiling, and Jeannie Rupp.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Interment will follow services in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays with military Honors by the Hays VFW Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday 9:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M all at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601.

A rosary service will be Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30 P.M. all at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Building Fund.
