Sylvia D. Stecklein, 97, Pratt, formerly of Hays, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 9. 1916, in Catherine to James and Virginia (Koerner) Giebler.

She married Richard B. Stecklein on Oct. 24, 1939, in St. Severin. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1984.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt.

Survivors include a son, Brian Stecklein, Pratt; a daughter, Marti Herring, Bella Vista, Ark.; two brothers, Vern Geibler and wife, Lori, and Ken Giebler and wife, Edna, all of Hays; two sisters, Alice Schneider, Victoria, Ruth Carter, Jacksonville, Fla., and Mae Desch-Boos, Lafayette, Colo.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Val Stecklein; a daughter, Kary Stecklein; two brothers, James and Joseph Giebler; and four sisters, Loretta Stecklein, Lorraine Dreiling, Jeannie Rupp and Ventura Weigel.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Pratt; burial will be at 3 p.m. in St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, Pratt. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
