Graveside services will be at noon today at Forrest Cemetery for Fairy Mae Lankford, 94, who died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004. The Rev. David Denson will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Coleman L. and Carrie Duncan Lankford; sisters, Irma Stovall, Thelma Griffin, Evelyn Holloway and Helen Lankford; brothers, Coleman and Earl Lankford; and nephew, David Lankford.

Fairy Mae was a resident of Gadsden all of her life and would have been 95 on Oct. 30. She was a seamstress and sewed for the public for many years. She also cared for her younger sister, Helen, and was known for her good cooking, all this in spite of being crippled by polio as a child.

She is survived by her 13 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

The family would like to thank the many people who befriended Fairy and visited her the past nine years, including, Mrs. Pruitt, Gary, Van, Carol and the Central Church of Christ friends and her loving aides, Gina, Veronica, April, Jimmie and Mattie at Gadsden Health Care.

We especially wish to thank Drs. O. Akisanya, Jed Kaplan, George Miller, V. Narayan, Riverview Hospital Third Floor Extension and CCU nurses and techs for their compassionate and expert care of Fairy during her illness. May God bless you all.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
