Fredrick Sorensen Christensen is the son of Soren Christensen and Dorothea Jensen.

He married Dorothea Sophia Teisner on November 5, 1848 in Denmark. She was born September 29, 1826. To this union were born four children. Her fourth child, a girl, died on September 15, 1858 and Dorothea died September 23, 1858. Dorothea was buried on her 32nd birthday, September 29, 1858.
Their third child, Christian, was born on April 18, 1855 and died on March 24, 1860. Christian was buried with his baby sister. Frederik was left to raise the two oldest children, Anna 'Annie' Sophia and Soren Samuel.

On April 14, 1860, he married Caren Hansen. She was born April 2, 1833 and died July 1862.

"Soon after this (marriage) the family was visited by the Mormon missionaries. Frederik was not interested for quite some time, and the missionaries had to make many visits to his home before he did become interested. However, after he understood the gospel, the desire came to him to come to America. The wish became so strong that he told the missionaries that he would know the gospel was true if he could get ready to go with the company of saints who were sailing in three days. To his surprise he was able to sell his home and belongings and made arrangements to set sail with the saints for the New Land."

The family surname, Christensen, was changed to Sorensen (son of Soren). Fredrick, Caren, Anna Sophia and Soren Samuel left Hamburg, Germany on April 9, 1862 sailing on the ship Humboldt. They arrived in New York on May 20, 1862. The LDS Church Leader was Hans Christian Hansen. The ship record has them listed as SORENSEN.

They prepared for the journey to Utah, joining the Van Cott & Liljenquist Company. Fredrick's life was again touched with great sorrow when Caren and her baby died. Soon after their death, Caren's mother and sister died. They were buried on the plains in Omaha, Nebraska.

Fredrick met a young woman who came with the same company. Her name was Sophia Walbum and she was hired to help take care of his two children, as he was very ill and not expected to reach the valley. He was promised by one of the elders that he would live and was married to Sophia on December 14, 1862, shortly after arriving in the valley. On January 27, 1865, they were sealed by Wilford Woodruff, in the Endowment House, Salt Lake, Utah.

Their company entered the Salt Lake Valley on Tuesday, September 23, 1862. The family first settled in Mantua; nicknamed Little Copenhagen. Then moved to Bear River City, Mount Pleasant, Draper, Lehi, Salt Lake, Sandy and Crescent, Utah.

Fredrick died at their homestead in Crescent, Utah, at the age of 79 years. The cause of death was "Senile Debility".
He was buried February 28, 1904.
