Son of John Thomas and Ellen (Chase) Hobbs born in Davis County, KS (now Geary County) on November 26, 1876, the second of eight children. The family moved to Dickinson County, KS in about 1883 and they lived in Willowdale Township. He married Jessie K. King on February 8, 1905 in Dickinson County, KS. They lived and farmed in Section 32, T12N, R1W, of Lincoln Township in Ottawa County for many years. Jessie died in 1958 and George died on November 28, 1966 and is buried in Prairie Mound cemetery near Solomon, KS.
