Mr. J. Mark Whitaker, 64, died in a Chattanooga hospital Sunday morning, November 13, of a heart attack suffered on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Whitaker was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late I. B. and Mary Lou McDaniel Whitaker. He went to Chattanooga about 32 years ago and had made his home there ever since. For the entire time he had been a valued employee of the Miller Brothers Department Store.

His body was brought to the Higgins Funeral Home Sunday afternoon and funeral services were held from that place Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Otis Welch, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery by the side of his wife, Ida Harris Whitaker, who died seven years ago.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Motlow of Mulberry and Mrs. Lawton Shannon of Dresden, Tennessee; three brothers, Mac Whitaker of Fayetteville, Holland Whitaker of Petersburg, and Coleman Whitaker of Pearl City; and several nieces and nephews.
