Actor. Born Cecil Wyndham Standing in London, the son of Emily Clementina Brown and veteran actor, Herbert Standing, Senior. He and three of his brothers made their way to Hollywood where he landed a contract with Paramount Studios. He became a staple character actor, appearing in such silent films as 'A Mother's Atonement' (1913), 'The Law of the Land' (1917), 'Little Johnny Jones' (1923), and 'The Dark Angel (1925), several of which are now lost. He survived the transition to sound and appeared in supporting roles for another two decades. His films included 'Hell's Angels' (1931), 'A Study in Scarlet' (1933), 'Madame Curie' (1943), and 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington' (1939). He appeared in 131 films between 1915 and 1948. He was married actress Winifred Helen Pearson.
