Actor. Born in London, the son of Emily Clementina Brown and actor Herbert Standing, Senior. He made his Broadway debut in 'Florodora' in 1905, a show that ran a month. He followed it with appearances in 'Zira' which ran until January 1906, 'Lola From Berlin' (1907), 'Camille' (1908), and Carmen (1908). He signed with Siegmund Lubin, a pioneer in film production, in 1911. In 1914 Lubin's Philadelphia studio was sold, and they moved to Hollywood, where Monogram Studio was established. Standing continued as an actor in such films as 'The Perils of Pauline' (1914), 'Fanchon the Cricket' (1915), 'Civilization's Child' (1916), 'Hell's Hinges' (1916), and 'The Amazons' in 1917. That same year, he contracted pneumonia and succumbed at the age of 31. His final film, 'With Hoops of Steel' (1918) was released posthumously.
