Mrs. Nora Bagan Healey, long loved and respected in Au Sable Forks, New York, died early Monday, September 23, 1940, after an illness that had lingered for the past year. She had spent practically all of her life in that community and was known for her tireless energy in helping others. Everyone in Au Sable Forks knew her and liked her.

Born 77 years ago in Black Brook, New York, Mrs. Healey was the daughter of the late Bernard and Catherine (Davern) Bagan. Before her death she was the only survivor of a family of seven children. For several years Mrs. Healey made her home in New York city and worked there. In 1904 she married Bart A. Healey and shortly afterward they came to Au Sable Forks to live. For several years thereafter Mr. and Mrs. Healey conducted the Adirondack House which stood on the site where Kenney's Garage was located in 1940. About 15 years prior they sold the hotel and moved to their present home in the Jersey section of Au Sable Forks. The hotel burned in 1926.

Mrs. Healey was a parishioner of Holy Name parish and a member of the Sacred Heart Society. She was survived by her husband and one daughter, Miss Adelaide, and several nieces and nephews.

A high mass of requiem was celebrated at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, September 25, 1940, by Father J. J. Kelly at Holy Name church. Burial took place in the Holy Name cemetery. Bearers were John Murphy, Benjamin Dodge, R. E. Morhous, Walter Estes, Bernard Kelly and Patrick Fyans.
