In 1910 she and her parents and three siblings lived in an apartment they were renting at 400 South Alley (now Brallier Place?) in Johnstown, PA. Her father worked as a laborer at a steel works.

In 1920 she and her husband and their three children lived in an apartment they were renting at 335 1/2 Oak Street in Johnstown. He worked as a scale repair man in a steel mill.

In 1930 she and James and their four children lived in a house they were renting for $30 a month at 585 Bedford Street in Dale, PA. He worked as a machinist in a steel mill, and son James as a laborer in a slaughter house.

In 1940 she, her husband, their son William, and her mother lived in the same house. Their rent was only $20 a month after the Great Depression. He worked as a scale repairman at a steel mill, with an income in 1939 of $1476 for 45 weeks of work.
