Died 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 1990, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 67, a native of Centreville, Miss., and a resident of Baker. He was a retired Matlack Co. employee and a member of Teamsters Local 270. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, 10 a.m. to religious services at 1 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Bill Boulton. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by wife, Eva Michelli Metcalfe; three sons, Daniel J. Metcalfe and Gary W. Metcalfe, both of Zachary, and David W. Metcalfe, Baker; four sisters, Mrs. Sozo ("Peewee") Rushing, Denham Springs, Mary M. Anthony, Ruby Lee Greenhill and Dollie Boenekee, all of Baton Rouge; five granddaughters, Lindsey, Courtney, Britanee, Stephanie and Jamie Metcalfe; a grandson, Troy Wade Metcalfe; brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by parents, and two brothers. Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers are James Byrd and members of his Sunday School class. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Baker, and church choir.
