MARION SURFUS
(1923 - 2006)

Marion E. Dirkmann, age 82, a resident of the Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, formerly of Mishicot, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay, with her family at her side.

A private family funeral service was held at Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Manitowoc. Mark J. Herrmann officiated.

Marion was born Sept. 30, 1923, in the town of Cato, daughter of the late John and Clara (Tuschel) Gerl. She married Walter Surfus on Feb. 14, 1946, in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1948. She married Edmund V. Dirkmann on June 2, 1952, in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1980. Marion was a member of the Two Rivers Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors included five sons and four daughters-in-law: James J. (Annette) Surfus, Milwaukee; Thomas W. (Kay) Surfus, Indianapolis; Edmund Dirkmann Jr. Mishicot; David R. (Lynne) Dirkmann, Mishicot; Donald R. (Susan) Dirkmann, Mishicot; one daughter: Mary Beth Dirkmann; 13 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Kristina and Juliane Surfus; Patricia, Cindy, Kathleen and Christopher Surfus; Dee Dee Dirkmann and special friend Don Krizek; Dawn Dirkmann and special friend Shane Salentine; Adam, Mathew, Michael and Emily Dirkmann; one sister: Annabelle Miller; one sister-in-law: Bernice Gerl; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister-in-law: Herbert Gerl, Lester and Veronica Gerl, Harold Gerl; one sister: Sister Francis de Sales; and one brother-in-law: Robert Miller.

Marion was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a very dedicated member of her congregation. Her family and friends will always remember her ever present smile.

The family would like to thank the Hamilton Memorial Home for their special care. We would also like to thank her special friends for their care and companionship.
