Sister Frances DeSales Gerl, 48, died Saturday morning at Holy Family Convent, Rt. 5, Manitowoc. Funeral services were held at 2 pm this Monday at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. The Rev. Julian Resch O.Praem, officiated and burial was in the convent cemetery.
Sr. DeSales, nee Beatrice Gerl was born July 7, 1926 at Cato, daughter of the late John and Clara Tuschel Gerl. She entered the order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1940, professing her vows in 1945. She served the community at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point, Neb., Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc and St. Paul Home, Kaukauna.
Survivors include two brothers, Harold J. Gerl of Manitowoc and Lester E. Gerl of Valders and two sisters, Mrs. Edmund (Marian) Dirkman of Rt. 1, Mishicot and Mrs. Robert (Annabelle) Miller of Manitowoc. Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc was in charge of funeral arrangements.
