Eldon N. Babcock, 64, of Montrose, Pa., joined the angels in Heaven on Monday, March 14, 2005, as a result of an automobile accident in Flordia. Born July 6, 1940 in Dimock, Pa., he was the son of the late Edwin and Bernice [Sivers] Babcock. He served in the US Airforce during the Vietnam War, and was later employed by IBM. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and volunteered many hours with Habitat for Humanity of Susquehanna County. He went on a humanitarian mission trip to Haiti. Additionally he was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Coleman; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Tim Case, Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Mattthew Case, and Kaitlyn Case, Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Ella Rosengrant, Tunkhannock, Pa., Catherine Molenko, Brooklyn, Pa., Vera Blaisure, Meshoppen, Pa.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Babcock, Laceyville, Pa., Donald and Marilyn Babcock, Jamestown, Ind., and Norman and Lois Babcock, Birchardville, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick´s Catholic Church, Middletown, Pa. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, 74 Church Street, Montrose, Pa. 18801. The family will provide all the flowers and suggests that, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat For Humanity Of Susquehanna County, P.O Box 231, Montrose, Pa. 18801.

Eldon Babcock dies in Florida collision

Eldon N. Babcock, 64, Montrose, Pa. (Irish Hill), was killed March 14 in Zephyrhills, Fla. His wife, Mary Alice (Coleman) Babcock, was critically injured. The 2004 GMC pick-up in which the Babcocks were traveling on Eiland Boulevard was hit by a 70,000-pound dump truck after it lost control while braking in traffic and swerved into the westbound lane, striking the Babcock's vehicle.
Mr. Babcock was killed instantly. Mary Alice Babcock was critically injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.

Eldon Babcock was the son of the late Edwin and Bernice (Sivers) Babcock. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war and was later employed by IBM.
He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in Susquehanna County.

He is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Tim Case and two grandchildren, Charlotte, N.C.; several bothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
