Has Attack of Acute Indigestion While in Hotel at Florence-Was Deputy Marshal
The family of William Cooper, deputy United States Marshal, learned yesterday morning that he had died the night before in his room in a hotel in Florence.
Mr Cooper had gone to Florence Saturday afternoon, apparently in his ordinary good health. It seems that Saturday night he had an attack of indigestion and a physician was summoned. He administered remedies and left Mr Cooper in apparently a relieved condition. Later in the night he must have had a second attack for yesterday morning he was found dead in his bed at hte hotel..
Mr Cooper was a native of the Indiantown settlement in Williamsburg County, where he planted until 1906, when he rented his farm and moved to Columbia. For some time past he has been a deputy United States marshall.
He was in his 67th year and is survived by his widow, who was Miss Esther Agnes Daniel, and nine children, five daughters and four sons. The daughters are: Mrs George A Alderman, Mrs D F deTreville, Misses Grace and Jacqueline Cooper of this city and Mrs S R Preston of Raleigh, NC. The four sons are: William Pressley Cooper, Samuel B Cooper [Daniel B Cooper], John Hughes Cooper and Paul A Cooper of this city.
