Irene Wantland, 94, Kokomo and formerly of Elwood, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 16, 1914, in Windfall. She married Kenneth W. Wantland on Feb. 16, 1935.

She worked in production at Delco Radio for over 20 years, retiring in 1975. She attended Elwood Schools. She was currently a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kokomo.

She is survived by a brother, Don Hill, Elwood; sister, Mary Ervin, Kokomo; special great-niece, Trish Taylor and her children, all of Kokomo; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer T. and Osa Pearl (Walser) Hill; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Burial will take place at Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
