Mary J. Greene, 85, of Decatur died 7:38 p.m. Thursday (June 20, 2002) in Lincoln Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery.
Mrs. Greene was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Decatur, the daughter of Frank and Margaritte Russell Knapp. She worked for Look magazine in Des Moines, Iowa. She was an artist, who enjoyed pencil sketching, painting, crafts and making precision stone jewelry. She married Maynard Greene in 1967 in Wyoming. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Stephan and wife Betty of Champaign; Judy of Savoy; Stephanie of Des Moines; brother, Ben and wife Lucille of Oakley; sister, F. Aileen of Decatur; stepsister, Lillian of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Fredrick; brother, Fred Knapp; sister, Frances A. Beneze; and four stepbrothers.
