Benjamin F. Knapp, Sr., 83, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Decatur, died 8:30 p.m. Monday in Ocala.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery Beecher City.
Mr. Knapp was born in Beecher City, a son of Frank and Arilla J. Knapp.
He was an employee of the Decatur Park District since 1921. He was assistant superintendent for the park district for 35 years before retiring in 1956. He was a member of Little Hickory Church, Filmore, and a former member of Decatur Sportmen’s Club. He married Margaritte Russell. She died in 1937. He married Della Foster. She died in 1970.
Surviving are son, Ben F. Knapp Jr. of Decatur; stepsons, Cleo Foster of Wichita Falls Kan.; Ivan Foster of Springfield; Robert Foster of Bloomfield, Mo.; daughters, Mrs. John (Aileen) Tipsword of Decatur; Mrs. John (Frances) Beneze of Roberts; Mrs. Mary Lou Green of Ocala; stepdaughter, Mrs. Frank (Lillian) Cates of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
One son, one stepson, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.
