Bobbie Jean Edens, age 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead, NC.

She was born on September 13, 1933 in Scotts Hill and graduated from Topsail High School. Remembered are her parents, James Nathaniel Edens, Sr. and Lola Mae Jackson Edens, a brother, Jerry W. Edens, a sister, Edna Howard, and brother-in-law, Willie Ray Howard, all who preceded her in death.

Bobbie was a life long member of Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church in Scotts Hill and proud of her 67 years of perfect attendance at Sunday School. Bobbie was loved by all of her family including her many nieces and nephews who were a big part of her life. She remembered all of them at their birthday, holidays, special events in their lives, school, sports, and all of their accomplishments. She was always concerned about what they and their families were doing. Bobbie was an avid fan of Carolina Basketball and the Atlanta Braves and watched every game she could.

Bobbie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Doris Edens; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Edens; George "Stuffy" Hansley, who was like a brother to her; one aunt, Louise Stankawitz; four nieces, Kim H. Verney and husband, Ron, Janice E. Suggs and husband, Jimmie, Lisa E. Grant and husband, Steve, and Susan E. Harrison and husband, Brent; five nephews, Jerry Edens, Jr. and wife, Nancy, Gregory Edens and wife, Terri, Ray Howard and wife, Barbara, Ronnie Edens and wife, Sharon, and Stan Hansley and wife, Robin; great and great-great nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6pm to 8pm Monday, January 18, 2010, at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held 11am Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Jimmie Suggs, Rev. Karen Howell, and Rev. David Woodhouse. Burial will be in the church cemetery beside her parents. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Administration and staff at Woodbury Wellness for the love and excellent care that Bobbie received during the seven years she lived there.
