NEIL SMITH

Neil Benjamin Smith, 67, 202 S. Washington, died of congestive heart faiIure on Sunday, Aug. 16, 1992, at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. He was born Jan. 22, 1925 in Fort Scott, the son of Ivan and Alice Faye Embry Smith. He married Anna Mae Powell on April 1, 1951, in Eureka Springs. Mo. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Montgomery Ward, where be retired from the delivery service department. He later worked for Western Insurance Companies and retired from American States Insurance in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Debra Kay Parker, Route 1, Redfield; three brothers, Bill Smith, Fort Worth, Texas, Gary Smith, Austin, Texas, and Harold Smith, Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Rosalie Cox, Fort Scott, Janice Pent, Overland Park, Kan., and Joyce Johnson, El Paso, Texas; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Smith.

The Rev. Charles Baker will conduct services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be in Fort Scott National Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be left the funeral home.
