Clark Baxter, Dies At Addison
ADDISON — The death of Clark Baxter, 89, well known Addison resident, and the last member of a pioneer family of Tuscarora Township, occurred Friday afternoon at 5:15 o'clock at his home on Steuben street.
Born on Orr Hill December 28, 1854 he was the son of William and Lucretia Webster Baxter. He lived there until 22 years old when he moved to Troupsburg, where he resided for more than 20 years. Returning to Addison he operated the Farmer Sheds until their sale as part of the site of Addison High School building.
Active in civic, church and fraternal affairs. Mr. Baxter served as a member of the Addison Board of Education for 16 years, as treasurer of the local lodge of Odd Fellows for a period of 14 years, and treasurer of the Methodist church for five years. Deceased also held the position of Welfare Officer for the Town of Addison for eight years.
Survivors include a son Harry Baxter of Penn Yan; a grandson Sidney Baxter, Penn Yan: a granddaughter, Florence Baxter of Rochester, and several nieces and nephews including
Mrs. George Bonnell of Addison, who has cared for Mr. Baxter, since the death of his wife.
