Due to her father's untimely death when she was 6 weeks old, Florence was raised by a foster family in Ontario (FF Thomas Stevens).

Florence (Campbell/Stephens) Walker, the adopted daughter/ foster child of Thomas & Elizabeth (Brooks) Stephens, was the sixth child of William Dougald Campbell & Alice Osborne. Florence is shown on the 1911 Census as a second cousin of Thomas Stephens Jr. and on the 1921 Census as an adopted daughter. On her Sept 15 1928 border crossing document she lists Thomas Stephens as her Foster Father. She is interred in the West Nottawasaga Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Thomas Stephen's Jr was the son of Thomas & Flora (Campbell) Stephens. Flora (Campbell) Stephens and William Dougald Campbell's parents were Dougald Campbell & Anne (McKeith) Campbell.

Around 1927 she married James McLaren Walker who was born 30 Nov 1899 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire, Scotland the son of Archibald Walker & Susan Tuck (McLaren) Walker. Their address on Nov 7 1929 was 828 Bruce Ave Windsor, Ontario.

Florence's birth was registered 22 years after she was born and on it her father's name is shown as Douglas rather than Dougald. It shows her father, Dougald Campbell, was 56 years old when he died (1905-56 = 1849)

According to her daughter, Kathy (Walker) McLeod, sometime in the late 1940s/1950s Florence learned that she had a brother living in the Collingwood area and that he had been there throughout her childhood. Neither Florence, or Kathy, met this "brother" and Kathy had no additional information.
