Youngest daughter of Anna Maria Sidney O'Brien Spooner and William Spooner (1778?–1857), rector of Elmdon and archdeacon of Coventry. Married Archibald Campbell Tait, June 22, 1843. They had nine children, of whom the first five daughters died within a few weeks of each other of scarlet fever in the spring of 1856. Of their other children, only one had a child of her own.

3. Craufurd (1849-1878); never married.
4. Charlotte (1850-1856)
5. Frances Alice Marion (1852 - 1856)
6. Susan Elizabeth Campbell (1854-1856)
7. Lucy Sydney Murray (1856-1938); never married, but shared her life with Minnie Sidgwick Benson, widow of Archbishop of Canterbury Edward White Benson.
8. Edith Murdoch (1858-1936); m. Randall Davidson; no children.
9. Agnes Sitwell (1860-1888); m. John Henry Joshua Ellison; one son.
