In 1876, Craufurd became engaged to [Elizabeth] Florence Bickersteth, daughter of the Bishop of Ripon, but died before they could marry. In his will, Craufurd left Florence £2000 "for her own absolute use and benefit".
Florence died in 1924, never having married. However, her elder brother Henry named his youngest son after Craufurd, and after Henry and his wife died, Florence raised him, along with his younger sister, also named Florence.
