Peter J. Holschbach, 92, of Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, January 31, 1989 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10:30 am at Holy Innocents Catholic church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Leo Schmitt and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post 88. Mr. Holschbach was born September 21, 1896 in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son of the late Alois and Catherine Wiesner Holschbach. He married the former Emma Vogel on April 6, 1921 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. She preceded him in death on February 2, 1965. The couple owned and operated the family farm, Rt. 2, retiring in 1955. Mr. Holschbach was also employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding for many years, until retiring in 1962. He then married the former Linda Fricke on July 31, 1965. She preceded him in death on March 8, 1978. Mr. Holschbach was a member of the Boilermakers Union Local 443; Holy Innocents Catholic Church and the American Legion Drews Bleser Post 88. He served in the United States Armed Forces during World War I.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Reinard and Jeanette Holschbach of Whitelaw, Leo and Betty Holschbach on the homestead farm, rural Manitowoc, and William and Jean Holschbach of Manitowoc; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mrs. Jeanette Korinek, Ione and Marvin Pankratz, Amy and Robert Kaufman, all of Manitowoc; 24 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Holschbach was the last surviving member of a family of 13 children. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ed, Alois, Ernest, Paul and Robert and seven sisters, Anna, Theresa, Ida, Kathryn, Agnes, Martha and Sister Harriet. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony and a son-in-law, James.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 4 pm to 9 pm Thursday where a prayer service will be at 7:30 pm by Deacon Kenneth Nelesen.
