Walter Krekel, 73, of 1012 Hedge Avenue, died in Burlington Memorial hospital Sunday, August 25.
A Burlington native, Mr. Krekel was born April 20, 1901, to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Krekel. He married Ellen Shelledy at Decatur, Illinois, April 14, 1926. Mr. Krekel was owner-operator of Krekel Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist church; Des Moines Lodge No. 1, A.F. & A.M.; and Carthage Lake club.
Surviving: The wife; two sons, Commander Lyman Krekel, Cedar Rapids, and Richard Krekel, Hamilton, Illinois; daughter Mrs. Arlene Griffith, Loveland, Colorado; three sisters: Edith and Iola Krekel and Mrs. Mae K. Smith, all of Burlington; and six grandchildren.
Funeral: Sheagren funeral home, 2 p.m. Tuesday; Reverend Laurence Garrett; Aspen Grove cemetery. A memorial to Grace church has been established.
