Biagio Albertazzi, 88, formerly of 600 Cheshire Road, Pittsfield, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at the Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield, where he had resided since Dec. 5, 2000.
Born in Farnams on Dec. 30, 1914, he was the son of Domenico and Anunziata (Bianchi) Albertazzi. He attended schools in Cheshire.
He was employed as a construction worker for various construction companies in Berkshire County and was last employed as custodian at Lanesboro Elementary School for 20 years, retiring in 1977. He also drove school buses in the Lanesboro school system.
He was an avid sports fan and attended all sports events at Mount Greylock Regional High School. In his younger years, for six years, he raced cars at Lebanon Valley Speedway in Lebanon, N.Y. He was a Boston Red Sox baseball and New England Patriots football fan.
He was a communicant of North American Martyrs Church, Lanesboro, and attended St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire.
His wife, the former Mary A. (Saldo) Albertazzi, whom he married Sept. 2, 1940, in St. Mary the Assumption Church, Cheshire, died Dec. 1, 2002.
He leaves a son, Reno D. Albertazzi and his wife, Susan Albertazzi, of Pittsfield; five sisters, Chesela Magi of Naperville, Ill., Elizabeth Bongini of Pittsfield and Nellie Charron, Gina Simpson and Alda Roy of North Adams; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Novo, Mark Novo, Regina Albertazzi, Rena Albertazzi, Reno Albertazzi, Roman Albertazzi and Rhea Carnevale; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Carnevale, Kirstie Carnevale and Justin Carnevale.
A daughter, Jean E. Novo, died on Nov. 6, 1989, and a brother, Reno Albertazzi, died in 1942 during World War II.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial Mass for Biagio Albertazzi will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, with the Rev. David R. Raymond, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
The Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, is in charge of arrangements.
