Curt Fleming, a well known resident of our city, yesterday evening at about 8 o'clock was killed by a fall of coal while working at No. 7 mine. Mr. Fleming and his buddy, Rudy Leistner, were working at the face when the coal fell over on them. Leistner was also covered up but managed to extricate himself. He was not hurt.
Fleming died a few minutes after the fall caught him. It was later found that his skull was fractured. A coroner's inquest will be held today. Funeral arrangements had not been made at the time this went to press and the obituary will appear next week, Wednesday was the first day that No. 7 mine worked following a shutdown of two weeks for repairs.
