REV. J. MULLER EGGEN.

Rev. J. Muller Eggen, aged 72 years, died Wenesday afternoon, April 30, 1913, at the hospital in Minneapolis, where he had an operation the previous day. he had been in poor health for some time.

He was born near Trondhjem, Norway April 20, 1841. He attended grammar school and the university and studied in a theological school one year. He was principal of a high school at Trysil for several years and in the summer of 1865 came to this country and spent a year at the theological school at Paxton, Ill. and was ordained in 1866 as a Lutheran minister. He was a pastor five years at Racine, Wis. 11 years at Luther Valley, Rock county, and in 1882 accepted the call of the Six Mile Grove church in Nevada, Mower county, and other churches in the vicinity. In 1905 on account of poor health he resigned the charge of these. He was for nine years secretary of the Conference and later vice president and president.

He was married in 1865 to Henrietta Rossow. Eight children were born to them of whom six survive. Mrs. Eggen died in 1900 and Mr. Eggen in 1903 married Mrs. Gunhild Thorson. She survives. On account of his poor health they spent several winters in Alabama.

Funeral services, largely attended, were held Saturday at Six Mile Grove church.

J. Muller Eggen was born April 20, 1841 to L. Eggen and wife, nee Muller, in Levanger diocese of Trodjhem Norway. He came to America in 1866 and was graduated from Augustana Theological Seminary in 1867. That same year he was ordained on receiving a call from Stoughton, Wisconsin, where he served for four years, and then to Luther Valley for 11 years. He then served in Little Cedar, Six Mile Grove, and Mona from 1882 on. He served Little Cedar congregation for a period of 19 years.

For several years Rev. Eggen was secretary for the church body's missions. He was the author of several books.
