HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. - Margaret Ellen Burley Adams, 85, of Hendersonville, died Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Elizabeth House.
Formerly of Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Tillman Burley and Bessie Smith Burley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Claude R. "Happy" Adams.
She was employed by the state of South Carolina with the Wildlife Department. She retired with over 30 years of service in 1990. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Columbia, SC.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Adams, and wife, Nancy, of Severna Park, MD, and Robert Adams and wife, Sherry, of Flat Rock; three grandchildren, Barrett Adams, of Maryland, Laura Adams and Will Adams, both of Greenville, NC; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Main St. United Methodist Church for their love and support and members of HOPE United Methodist Church in Flat Rock for their prayers and visits and for the love and care provided by the Elizabeth House of Hendersonville.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011, at Main Street United Methodist Church in Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Main Street United Methodist Church and again, one hour prior to the service at the church.
