Per his death cerificate: He was the son of John William Burley and Mary Crawford and the widowed husband of Bessie Smith. He was a farmer. He died at Columbia Hospital of hypostatic congestion, hemiplegia, coronary thrombosis, hypertensive nephritis and myocarditis.

Found in The State 13 April 1916: Frank Tillman Burley of Monticello, Fairfield county, and Miss Bessie Smith of Columbia were married yesterday afternoon by the Rev. J. P. Knox at his residence, 1821 Marion street. The couple will go today to Fairfield county, where they will make their home.

Found in The State (Columbia, SC) 18 April 1940: F. Tillman Burley, 50, of Monticello, died at 7:25 yesterday morning at the Columbia hospital where he had been a patient for ten days. Mr. Burley was a farmer and had been born and reared in Monticello. He was the son of the late W. J. Burley and Mary Crawford Burley of Monticello. His wife died ten years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mary B. Thompson of Columbia, Mrs. Johnnie Musgrove of Newton, Ga., and Miss Margaret Ellen Burley of Monticello; three sons, William Burley of Rock Hill; Frank Burley of Lancaster and Charles Burley of Monticello; one sister, Mrs. E. E. Roberts, and three brothers, C. H. Burley and W. D. Burley and S. T. Burley, all of Monticello.
