Arthur (Art) Christensen, the son of Fred and Jenny Hansen Christensen, was on his parents' farm west of Jacksonville in Shelby County, Iowa and died June 19, 2001 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 25 days.

Art was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church west of Jacksonville, IA. He attended Jackson Township rural schools. Art worked for area farmers for several years and played baseball with the Jacksonville Town Team. Art drove a truck for Pete Andersen for five years and during the summers would go on the wheat harvest in North Dakota.

On August 3, 1932, he was united in marriage to Anna C. Nielsen at her parents' farm near Jacksonville. Six children were born to this union. They farmed in the Jacksonville area until the spring of 1950 when they purchased a farm northeast of Audubon. Anna died April 8, 1968. Art lived on the farm, then purchased a home in Audubon in 1969.

On November 21, 1969, he married Arlene Hansen in Greeley, Colorado. Art farmed with his sons until his retirement. Art and Arlene enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada and also traveled to New Zealand and Australia. Art enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid reader. Art loved all sports and was a loyal Cubs fan. He enjoyed driving in the country and watching the different stages of the crops and the livestock. Art was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon; was a member of the church council; and taught Sunday School for several years; and was a member of Farm Bureau.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Anna Christensen; his grandson, Brad Christensen; his parents; his brothers and sister: Hans and his wife, Martha Christensen; Elmer and his wife, Stella Christensen; Walter Christensen and Elva and her husband, Al Fabian.
