WIFE OF MICKEY E. SWAIM.Anna "Ann" Gay Elder Swaim, 70, of Winston-Salem, was called home Tuesday, May 5, 2009, to continue her mission in life of sharing God's love and nurturing those whose lives she touched.
Ann was born June 11, 1938, in Alexander County, the ninth of thirteen children born to the late William Curtis Elder and Willie Blanche Burgess. She was a member of Central Tabernacle Church in Winston-Salem and was retired from McLean Trucking and Sara Lee Corp.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mickey Eric Swaim; two sisters, Mary Stewart and Rachel Simmons; and three brothers, Jack, Thomas, and Buford Elder.
Survivors include three children, Mickey Leigh Swaim Brim and husband Moir of Winston-Salem, Jason Eric Swaim and wife Merinda of Walkertown, and Stephanie Ann "Dee Dee" Swaim of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lena Ellis, Alice Buck, Connie Bryant, and Jayne Goble, all of Taylorsville; and three brothers, J.C. Elder and Richard Elder, both of Taylorsville, and David Elder of Hickory.
A memorial service was conducted Friday, May 8, 2009, at Carson's Chapel United Methodist Church in Taylorsville with Rev. Sandra Bovender and Rev. Elbert Goble officiating.
Memorials may be made to Central Tabernacle Church, 715 Waughtown St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home of Winston-Salem was in charge of arrangements. Adams Funeral and Cremation Service of Taylorsville was in charge of local arrangements.
