Eugene Leroy Hayn, 75, of Newton passed away on the evening of Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born April 29, 1938 in Vermilion County, a son of Herman and Anna Schluter Hayn. He married Doris Yeazel on Dec. 24, 1961. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, three sisters and five brothers.
He later married Barbara Elam on July 17, 2000 in Urbana. She survives. Also surviving are a brother, Melvin Hayn and two stepsons, Mark Mennenga and Paul David Mennenga.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at the University of Illinois in maintenance for 30 years.
