Mr. Hayn was born March 19, 1931, in Compromise Township, a son of Herman and Anna Schluter Hayn. He married Helen Tucker on Sept. 16, 1950, in Royal. She survives.
Also surviving are four brothers, Melvin Hayn of Gifford, Louis Hayn of Penfield and Eugene Hayn Newton and Lawrence "Whitey" Hayn, both of Eddyville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Hayn served in the armed forces and worked in civil service at Chanute Air Force Base. He and his wife owned and operated Holland's Military Store and Ray's Military Store in Rantoul for 35 years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and American Legion in Rantoul. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and spending winters in Florida.
