Harry Calvin Biser, 88, of Roanoke and formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, and Thurmont, MD, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born November 29, 1925 and was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Wood Biser; Siblings, Elsie Creager, Marshal Biser, Leon Biser, Donald Biser, Herbert Biser. Mr. Biser retired from Georgia Tech as graduate director of admissions with 40 years of service. He was also a three year United States Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater.



Surviving are his brother Walter Biser of Thurmont Maryland and sister Dorothy Nusbaum of Gulfport Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Biser and Katheryn Emmons of Wayzata, MN, son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Tracey Biser of Tracy, CA, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda (Biser) and Bill Baney of Roanoke; and 9 grandchildren.



The family would like to thank the Emergency, Acute Care and Palliative Care Departments of the Salem VA Medical Center (VAMC) for the wonderful care they provided during his final stay.



Funeral Services will be conducted from Oakey Funeral Service South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24108 at 12 p.m. Friday with Reverend John Rights officiating. Interment and service will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem VAMC Voluntary Service Office, Basement, Building 12, Room 9, 540-224-1919. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Oakey Funeral Service South Chapel. www.oakeys.com
