Mrs. Elsie M. (Biser) Creager, 96, a resident of Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of 8935 Tomstown Road, Waynesboro, PA, died at 9:02 p. m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 in Chambersburg Hospital.

Born August 29, 1912 in Myersville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Biser and Jennie C. (Marker) Royer. She spent her early life in the Myersville and Zullinger, PA area.

Mrs. Creager was a graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School with the Class of 1929. She later received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Shippensburg State College, Shippensburg, PA in 1963.

She and her husband, the late Mr. Benjamin R. Creager, were married in 1932. He died August 3, 1959. She entered the nursing home in November 2005.

Mrs. Creager was employed for Wayne Tool Company, Waynesboro and later was an elementary teacher for the Waynesboro School District. She retired in 1979.

She was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren Church, Waynesboro where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and was a member of Women's Missionary Society and Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She also was a member of Franklin County Retired Teacher's Association, Waynesboro Area Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association, National AARP, South Chapter AARP #2977, Fairview/Tomstown Community Association and a former member of Franklin County Teacher's Credit Union.

Mrs. Creager enjoyed playing the piano and sewing, as well as tutoring and reading to children.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonita C. Yocum of Chambersburg; two sons, Max E. Creager and D. Lamar Creager, both of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Nusbaum of Gulfport, FL; three brothers, Harry Biser of Winston Salem, NC and Herbert Biser and Walter Biser, both of Thurmont, MD; four stepsisters, Marjorie Rosenberry and Jean Kuntz, both of Harrisburg, PA, Martha Weigle of San Diego, CA, Ruby Flynn of Seattle, WA; two step-brothers, John Royer of Flintstone, MD and Joe Royer of Thurmont; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, father and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Samuel Royer; two brothers, Donald Biser and Leon Biser; and a step-sister, Lillie Dunlap.

Burial will be Thursday, April 9, 2009 in the Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA.
