DEATHS
Gertrude A. Evans

Gertrude A. (Hines) Evans, 84, 3114 E. 11th St., died Wednesday at St. John's Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 10, 1907 in Hamilton County and had resided in Anderson since 1942. She retired in 1970 after 31 years as a schoolteacher. She taught at Russiaville, Cicero and Anderson Washington Junior High School and South Side Junior High School for 14 years.
She was a member of Disciples of Christ Church since 1917 and was active at Noblesville Christian Church and Central Christian Church in Anderson. She had taught Sunday school for more than 50 years.
She was active in Women's Fellowship Group, was general president of C.W.F in Anderson from 1972-1974, national treasurer of Kappa Beta Christian College Women's Sorority.
She was a 1925 graduate of Noblesville High School and a 1929 graduate of Butler University.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Orval L. Evans; a son, David A. Evans of New Castle; two grandsons; two great-grand-daughters and four nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Rutz-Diedring Funeral Home with Dr. R. Woods Kent and the Rev. G. Lavon Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Christian Center or Central Christian Church.
