I.C. Barron Joins Wife in Last Long Sleep After 52 Years of Wedded Life
Last Friday Mrs. Mary L. Barron passed away at the family home on the Sargent road west of Lodi, leaving her husband Ira C. Barron, to survive.
Sunday her husband answered the call to the great beyond as though death itself had decided that the beloved couple, inseparable in life, were to be inseparable in the last long sleep.
Over fifty-two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Barron were married. It was on the 22nd of October, 1870, that they accepted the marriage vows in the old Mills home on the lower Sacramento road that made them husband and wife "until death do up part."
For over a century they lived happily together.
So happy and contented were they through the many years that it did not seem right that even death should separate them.
The death of Mr. Barron only a few hours after his wife had passed away appears to have come as in answer to the call of Mrs. Barron from the land of far away.
Mrs. Barron was to have been laid to rest yesterday, but the death of her husband Sunday changed the plans, this afternoon at 2 o'clock a double funeral will be held from the Methodist church, and Mr. and Mrs. Barron, who have lived together for over fifty-two years, will be taken to their last resting place and buried side by side in Lodi cemetery.
The remains are at the chapel of Hale & Bawden. Rev. Boeks will officiate at the church service this afternoon.
Mrs. Barron ws aged 79 and her husband was aged 85.
The couple is survived by the following children: Mrs.F.M. Dunsmore, J.E. Peters, Mrs. Hattie L. Coe, Mrs. Lillian I. Dinsmore, Mrs. Flora B. Blazer and Ira Barron.
The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary two years ago with a dinner at Hotel Lodi where fifty friends and relatives joined with them. A reception at their home was held at that time and golden chrysanthemums and tulle were used as decorations.
Both were born in Illinois, Mrs.Barron coming to California when thirteen years old, thus making her residence in this state total 65 years.
Mr. Barron was aged 25 when he came to California and lived in this state for over fifty-nine years.
In addition to their children, Mrs. Barron leaves a brother, Freeman B. Mills of Lodi and a sister, Mrs. Alice G. Taylor of Los Angeles, and Mr. Barron, a sister, Miss H. Julia Barron of Huntington Park, California.
